Challenge and Inspiration
The challenge was to connect the dining room and kitchen by opening the sight lines from the kitchen nook, through the dining room and living beyond.
From having small kids to becoming empty nesters with a need to have space to entertain visiting family, the remodelling had to keep pace with their changing lifestyle.
The pallette and patterning was inspired by their Delft pottery.
Design Build Solution
We designed several layers of lighting; recessed for general illumination, under cabinet task lighting, track lighting to spotlight artwork, and pendant lights as focal interest and task lighting. Over all, a skylight brings natural light into the room.
We also connected the the spaces to the outdoors with french doors leading to the deck.
