Challenge and Inspiration
The homeowners wanted to bring their love for nature in. The inspiration was the organic limestone backsplash, with imbedded fossils.
The challenge was that they could not see into other rooms, specifically the front entry, so we relocated a door and added a cut-out opening.
Also, moving the island, enlarged the kitchen allowing the homeowners their favorite pastime – cooking together!
Design Build Solution
We bumped out the side of the house to create a drop-zone storage center for recipes, recycling, and mail.
The husband, a wood worker, brought the idea to use a different wood for trim above cabinets.
“There’s always an inspiration piece, it can be anything: nature inspired, artwork, something collected or found…”
