Inspiration and Challenge
The homeowner, being a cook, wanted both a beautiful and functional kitchen. The challenge was to add functionality within the existing footprint of this small space.
The other challenge was to blend the rustic wood paneling (from the old kitchen) with modern materials.
The inspiration pieces were the sleek, red hood and textured travertine slab backsplash – they add the “wow” factor. And the colors in the custom Marmoleum flooring tie everything together!

Design Build Solution
We removed the soffits, and used continuity of line – the horizontal pattern in the backsplash, paneling, and cabinets – to give an illusion of a larger, open space.
As with any small space we looked for creative ways to add storage. Here, the lift-up cabinet above the fridge and the side fridge cabinets do the trick.
